Extracurricular activities

At Azbuki School, we believe that learning continues outside the classroom. That is why extracurricular activities are an essential element of children’s development – ​​they encourage teamwork, build self-confidence and develop talents. Through clubs based on interests, sports and arts, children discover new opportunities to express themselves and learn through experience.

Chess

The game of chess forms qualities and skills related to concentration, visualization, helps develop abstract thinking in children and this in perspective. Modern studies show that children who systematically engage in chess significantly increase their success in other subjects and show better results. The additional chess activity is carried out by our partners from the chess club at CSKA.

Singing and Music

Music increases intelligence in children. It has the power of conscious breathing, it works great as a stress reducer. Learning to sing dramatically develops the part of the brain with which we think, speak, see, hear and create. Musical rhythm improves the development of the child’s musculoskeletal system, and learning melodies and words helps to better develop speech and the capacity to perceive different languages.

Music in the children’s world builds self-esteem, confidence, better self-expression and development of creative potential.

Cheerleading Squad

Modern dance classes include preparation for hip-hop and contemporary dance styles. These techniques form good posture, a sense of rhythm, flexibility, improve coordination, develop imagination, aesthetics and love for dance. In the process of learning choreography, a sense of smooth and sharp movement is built and their combination in a flow, awareness of one’s own body and the body in space. Working in a group contributes to creating a strong bond with others, confidence, self-esteem and helps develop the character of a young person.

Football

Football develops high motor activity in children and with the emotions it creates, it is interesting and accessible to all children. This sport promotes team spirit, teaches tolerance and self-control skills. Each football activity includes a preparatory, main and final part. In the main part, children perform game exercises. In the main part, they practice elementary technical techniques such as dribbling the ball, direct and inside kicks, stopping and receiving the ball, kicks at the goal, and also playing football. In the final part, they perform penalty kicks and stretching exercises

Basketball

Basketball is an intense sport that helps children build and maintain physical fitness, strengthening muscles and improving coordination. As a team sport, basketball teaches children the value of cooperation and teamwork, self-discipline and taking responsibility for both their individual actions and the team. Basketball offers many benefits that can contribute to the physical, social and mental development of children. Basketball training is led by Slavi Nuchev – a physical education and sports teacher and coach at the basketball sports club “Sportni Talanti”.

Volleyball

Volleyball is a dynamic and energetic sport that develops speed, coordination and reflexes. As a team game, it teaches children trust, teamwork and tactical thinking. Volleyball combines physical activity with social skills, making it an excellent choice for the overall development of adolescents.

Table Tennis

Table tennis is a fast and strategic sport that stimulates concentration, hand-eye coordination and reactions. It helps children develop precision, patience and self-control. In addition to the physical benefits, table tennis encourages logical thinking and improves planning and independent decision-making skills.

Badminton

Badminton is an extremely mobile sport that helps develop endurance, agility and balance. The game requires quick reactions, concentration and good coordination, while also building sportsmanship and discipline in children. Badminton is suitable for both individual performances and teamwork in pairs.

STEM education

STEM education (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) encourages curiosity, critical thinking and problem solving. It provides children with the opportunity to explore, experiment and create, developing logical thinking and creativity. STEM activities build confidence in their own ideas and prepare children for the world of innovation and future professions.

Computer Champions

Computer modeling classes are fun and engaging, through which children are introduced to basic computer skills and develop their creativity. Through practical exercises and fun projects, they learn to use various software tools to create digital content. Classes for more advanced students are focused on practical classes for working with PowerPoint, Canva, Kahoot and others, through which participants create various digital products. This is a great way to learn to think logically, work in a team and present their ideas in an innovative way.

The activity is carried out according to an author’s program and is tailored to the age of the students and is divided into three modules, suitable for children in first, second and third grades.

Activities with Nikola Tesla

The Inventors Advanced are suitable for students in grades 4 to 6. They require time, attention, dexterity and a deeper understanding of electronics, mechanics, physics and mathematics. The students get to keep their finished projects. 

The Inventors Advanced classes help children to preserve their ingenuity, develop it and turn it into a conscious advantage for life!

We give them the joy of discovering the world, solving increasingly complex tasks and dealing with increasingly greater challenges. The implementation of the projects takes one or two classes!

The Inventors Advanced conceptualizes, enriches and applies in practice the theoretical concepts that are studied in school.

Folk dances

In these classes, children have the opportunity to get acquainted with and practice Bulgarian folk dances as part of the culture and customs of our country. Here they learn their first elementary dance steps, strive to achieve synchronization and gain a sense of the collective spirit of dance.

Art studio

Art studio classes are the classes in which children will feel calm and free to create and express themselves with the language of art. This is a space in which the child provokes their imagination, thought and creativity. By working with various natural and recycled materials, they will enrich their skills, learning how to apply them in practice. They will learn to feel clay as a natural material, they will look through glass, creating a new interesting world, they will breathe life into old recycled materials. They will learn how to enrich their own and unique personal world.

Textiles

The classes in the textile studio are aimed at studying and improving knowledge related to artistic textiles. Students will become familiar with the different types of techniques when working on silk and textiles and will be able to develop a given project step by step (sketch, color project, execution in material: jersey and silk). They will learn to skillfully handle colors, using different ranges and will master accuracy and precision when drawing on textiles and silk, which are an important element of the performance. They will develop their imaginative and creative thinking and will draw their own works – unique.

Theater workshop

The “Theater workshop” is aimed at the manifestation of the child’s inner world. It is carried out through play, empathy and the opportunity to create a plot, together with other children. Here children develop their sense of rhythm, motor culture and become familiar with different forms of communication. They also learn how to express themselves, their emotions and thoughts, act out sketches and use body language to provoke the imagination. Children will have the opportunity to get acquainted with photography, costumes and free expression as an integral part of the art of theatre.

Swimming

Swimming sports develop the child’s body in the most comprehensive way possible – from building motor and respiratory culture to forming healthy muscles. Swimming strengthens the child’s immunity, expands the chest, develops muscles harmoniously, and team spirit creates communication skills and introduces discipline in the little swimmer. A key moment in swimming training is getting used to the water. Depending on their skill, children swim independently, with a board or floats. The training begins with exercises on dry land, then in the water they practice elements – crawl, immersion, exhalation in water and coordination crawl and backstroke.

Taekwondo

Taekwondo teaches quick reactions during games, respect for others, and knowledge of one’s own advantages and disadvantages. Through taekwondo training, children imperceptibly build many qualities such as: will, perseverance, concentration, fighting spirit, and the ability to react adequately in difficult situations. Taekwondo classes not only increase their flexibility, but are also an important prerequisite for strengthening their body and, last but not least, an obstacle to the development of diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Taekwondo aims to increase physical abilities, improve mental discipline and emotional balance, teach us self-defense, and develop a sense of responsibility towards ourselves and others.

Fencing

Fencing is an extremely interesting and dynamic sport that stands out for its aesthetics, romanticism, and rich culture. Fencing is a great way for motor activity, with the help of which all physical qualities are comprehensively built and developed. Fencing is a highly intellectual sport that requires quick decisions in a short amount of time and at the right moment. Fencing builds independence, confidence, and discipline and based on these skills, results in all aspects of a child’s social life to improve.
